Buying a used Nissan engine
Nissan requests centre on the VQ V6 family, which spans two decades and a very wide range of vehicles. It is a durable engine with predictable high-mileage wear points rather than a fragile one.
VQ35DE 3.5L V6
A timing-chain engine, so there is no belt interval, but chain guides and tensioners become part of the conversation at high mileage. Oil consumption is more commonly reported on engines used for short trips. Mileage and service history matter more here than on most engines we handle.
QR25DE 2.5L I4
The high-volume Altima and Sentra four-cylinder. Oil consumption and, on some ranges, timing chain noise are the recurring owner complaints. A donor with documented oil consumption should be priced accordingly.
Before you order
The VQ35DE appears in many chassis with different accessory layouts, mounts and intake configurations. The interchange number rather than the engine code is what confirms the one you need.

VIN & interchange codes
How Nissan engines are identified by VIN
Nissan engines of the same displacement can differ by VIN code, emissions package, and build - which changes the correct part. Here is the real interchange breakdown for a 2015 Nissan Titan, the kind of detail a specialist confirms from your VIN before anything ships:
| Engine / application | Interchange # |
|---|---|
| (5.6L) VIN A (4th digit, unleaded fuel) | 300-77256A |
| (5.6L) VIN B (4th digit, flex fuel) | 300-77256B |
Interchange data shown for reference. Availability and exact application are confirmed per order from your complete VIN.

FAQ
Used Nissan engines & transmissions
How much does a used Nissan engine cost?
Price tracks the engine family more than the model year, and on Nissan that usually means which of the VQ35DE 3.5L V6 and QR25DE 2.5L I4 you need. Displacement alone does not settle it, because the same badge can cover variants that differ in cost and availability. Tell us the year, model and VIN and you get a firm quote on the engine your vehicle actually takes, with availability confirmed before you pay.
Which Nissan engines do you carry?
We regularly source Nissan engines across the lineup, including the 5.6L V8, 4.0L V6, 3.5L V6, 3.0L V6, 2.5L I4, 2.4L I4. If you don't see your exact engine, tell us the year, model, and VIN and a specialist confirms the right one before you pay.
Do you sell used Nissan transmissions too?
Yes. Alongside used and remanufactured Nissan engines, we source manual, automatic, and CVT Nissan transmissions matched to your vehicle, backed by the same 12-month parts-replacement warranty.
Will the engine fit my exact Nissan?
Fitment is confirmed before you pay. The VQ35DE appears in many chassis with different accessory layouts, mounts and intake configurations. The interchange number rather than the engine code is what confirms the one you need. Give us the year, model and 17-digit VIN and a specialist matches the correct engine to your exact application.
Are your used engines and transmissions tested?
Yes. Every used engine and transmission is compression- and oil-pressure tested and put through a rigorous inspection process by automotive experts before they ship.
What warranty comes with a part?
Every engine and transmission includes a 12-month parts-replacement warranty, plus lifetime support from ASE-certified experts. Approved claims are handled by replacement or store credit - we do not issue cash refunds. Labor is not covered on the standard warranty. You can upgrade to 3-year parts and labor coverage for $499 at the time of purchase. Full warranty details are provided with your order.
Can I get a longer warranty that covers labor?
Yes. The standard coverage is 12 months on parts. For $499 you can upgrade to a 3-year warranty that covers both parts and labor, purchased at the time of your order. Ask your specialist to add it when you confirm your part.
