Where can you buy a tested used Audi engine for sale?
Car Part Headquarters supplies tested used and remanufactured Audi engines for cars, trucks, SUVs, and vans, shipped free to a commercial address across the lower 48 and backed by a 12-month parts-replacement warranty. Tell us your Audi’s year, model, and engine, and a specialist confirms the exact fitment before you pay.
Buying a used Audi engine
Audi requests are dominated by the 2.0 TFSI four-cylinder, which is the engine most likely to be replaced rather than repaired. Generation is the whole question.
2.0 TFSI (EA888 Gen 2)roughly 2009-2011
Oil consumption traced to piston and ring design is the most widely documented case, concentrated in A4, A5 and Q5 of this period. Audi revised the piston and ring tolerances in later production and published a measurement procedure for the complaint. A later-generation engine is a genuinely different unit.
3.0 TFSI supercharged V6
Supercharger and thermostat housing complaints are the recurring items rather than bottom-end failures. The engine itself is generally regarded as sound.
Before you order
EA888 generation matters more than model year, and the generations are not interchangeable. We match on the engine code from your VIN rather than the badge on the car.

VIN & interchange codes
How Audi engines are identified by VIN
Audi engines of the same displacement can differ by VIN code, emissions package, and build - which changes the correct part. Here is the real interchange breakdown for a 2015 Audi A4, the kind of detail a specialist confirms from your VIN before anything ships:
| Engine / application | Interchange # |
|---|---|
| (2.0L, VIN F, 5th digit, turbo) engine ID CAEB | 300-97006 |
| (2.0L, VIN F, 5th digit, turbo) engine ID CAED | 300-97006 |
| (2.0L, VIN F, 5th digit, turbo) engine ID CPMA | 300-10513 |
| (2.0L, VIN F, 5th digit, turbo) engine ID CPMB | 300-10513 |
Interchange data shown for reference. Availability and exact application are confirmed per order from your complete VIN.

FAQ
Used Audi engines & transmissions
How much does a used Audi engine cost?
Price tracks the engine family more than the model year, and on Audi that usually means which of the 2.0 TFSI (EA888 Gen 2) and 3.0 TFSI supercharged V6 you need. Displacement alone does not settle it, because the same badge can cover variants that differ in cost and availability. Tell us the year, model and VIN and you get a firm quote on the engine your vehicle actually takes, with availability confirmed before you pay.
Which Audi engines do you carry?
We regularly source Audi engines across the lineup, including the 4.2L V8, 3.0L V6 Turbo Diesel, 3.0L V6 Turbo, 2.8L V6, 2.0L I4 Turbo Diesel, 2.0L I4 Turbo. If you don't see your exact engine, tell us the year, model, and VIN and a specialist confirms the right one before you pay.
Do you sell used Audi transmissions too?
Yes. Alongside used and remanufactured Audi engines, we source manual, automatic, and CVT Audi transmissions matched to your vehicle, backed by the same 12-month parts-replacement warranty.
Will the engine fit my exact Audi?
Fitment is confirmed before you pay. EA888 generation matters more than model year, and the generations are not interchangeable. We match on the engine code from your VIN rather than the badge on the car. Give us the year, model and 17-digit VIN and a specialist matches the correct engine to your exact application.
Are your used engines and transmissions tested?
Yes. Every used engine and transmission is compression- and oil-pressure tested and put through a rigorous inspection process by automotive experts before they ship.
What warranty comes with a part?
Every engine and transmission includes a 12-month parts-replacement warranty, plus lifetime support from ASE-certified experts. Approved claims are handled by replacement or store credit - we do not issue cash refunds. Labor is not covered on the standard warranty. You can upgrade to 3-year parts and labor coverage for $499 at the time of purchase. Full warranty details are provided with your order.
Can I get a longer warranty that covers labor?
Yes. The standard coverage is 12 months on parts. For $499 you can upgrade to a 3-year warranty that covers both parts and labor, purchased at the time of your order. Ask your specialist to add it when you confirm your part.
